Postgraduate studies

Hello everybody!

Today I will talk about a postgraduate study I would like to do. Currently, I study Physical Anthropology so one of the things that I love the most apart of this is forensic science because I think this is interesting and because it can be a complement to my career, I love anatomy and the functional human body, bones, and unknown situations, like searching an answer to a difficult question. 

Unfortunallity it does not exist a course, or career or a good postgraduate in Chile, so I been searching about this and I found a course in Argentina and is as long as nine months. Specifically this course is about tanathology technician and I would like to study this right there and go to the classes because these include a lot of technics and practices that I can not learn away or if I take a course online.

I hope someday I could do this because is one of my dreams to work in the Medical - Legal  Service making autopsies and collaborating with members of the other institutions to clearing confused situations. 

For now, I will try to end my career this year because after that I can start to travel for making courses associates with forensic sciences. After that, I will try to enter to the institution and continued learning everything about the amazing human body.

My favorite band or singer

Definitely, this is a topic that I like to talk about a lot, because I enjoy listening to music a lot too, especially when I try to organize and order my room or when I travel long or short distances.

The truth is I do not have a favorite music style since I like several artists different from each other. While I can say that I really like retro music, I dare to say that my favorite musician is Taylor Swift, a singer-songwriter who started with country music and who was transforming her style over the years.

Although they are very cheesy most of their songs I like that they speak. I think I like his way of showing on stage, his music videos and the ease with which she manages to write about his own life.

The first time I heard it was on a music channel, I do not remember exactly what song it was playing but  I know I saw the video on TV because my sister showed me about it. I think it was in 2009, so I've been listening to his records for about 10 years.

Well, I don't have a favourite song but the album I heard more than others was Speak Now in 2010 and I wait for the day I can see her in a live concert because she has never come here. There are rumors that she will be here next year but it is not something completely real, so I keep waiting for that day.

The best holiday you have ever been to

Hello everybody!

Today I'm gonna talk about the best holiday I have ever been to, and it was last summer.

I went from Talca to southern Chile across the southern road and I can say that it was one of the most beautiful landscapes I have never seen before. 

I went to Punta Arenas with my family, my mom, my five sisters, my six nephew and some friends. Because we travel in cars the travel was really long because we arrive to Puerto Montt stoping in some places along the way as Frutillar, Varas Port and other near places. We cross to Chiloé and then to Ingeniero Ibañez Port, from there we went to Chile Chico, we cross to Argentina and drive to Natales Port. In that place we visit Torres del Paine like last year and other tourist places. We visit Punta Arenas too.

Last year we back through Argentina and this year we came back through southern road (Carretera Austral) because we heard it was very cute. In the road we continued touring and visiting places.

Guess it was an unforgetable experience because I made this trip with nice people and I knew new places for three weeks and of course because I saw huemules and other animals in the road.

A country I´d like to visit

One of the things that I really love is to travel, so today I will talk about a country I´d like to visit.

Well, I would like to go to Italy just because this country  have has capital Venice and I think this is one of the most wonderfull places in the world.

I like this city located in northern Italy for its architecture, because it doesn´t have streets and you have to move on by boats. I guess this is very interesting and maybe there I can learn about its culture and customs. I have heard that its very very beautiful and a magic place, so I want to know if this is truth.

However althought its cute I just like to be there as a tourist, because I would like to live in a place where I could work and live and unfortunately phisical anthropology its not a career with wich I can work there. Maybe I could travel there more that once if I really like the city

Paranormal Phenomena

Although paranormal phenomena are a subject that provokes discussions in many people because of the beliefs that they hold in them, I will talk about my point of view and what may or may not be called paranormal experiences.

Usually I can say that so far I have not suffered any event or paranormal phenomenon, however my mom tells that throughout her life she has seen a series of events that make her a believer of the paranormal and that also her dad suffered strange things throughout his life.

Within what my mom told me there were strange things that followed my grandfather independently of the house they were living in, since she remembers things from different places and since she was very small. This may sound a bit crazy but he would go out at night to battle with some entity and argue while doing it and there is no history of madness or insanity in the family in case you think of it that way.

What it is she and her sisters once saw a kind of animal ears lean out the window of the room and when they wanted to see what it was the same window began to tremble and called his dad to see what it was. It was one of the times he went out to the garden to fight mysteriously.

While I pointed out that paranormal events have never occurred to me, I do not rule out the possibility that they may exist. On the other hand I also agree with those who say that they are only superstitions, since each person is free to believe in what they like.

A subject I enjoy studying this semester

Because I currently only maintain two subjects I will talk about one of my favorites from previous years. This is the subject of Physical Anthropology IV: Paleopathology, corresponding to the mention in the fourth year of studies. I had the opportunity to advance the subject in the third year and I liked it so much that I made the decision to be an assistant for the following year.

In these classes the teacher begins by giving a brief introduction of the topic to be treated during the day and then a practical part is dictated in the laboratory in which we can identify various pathologies in the bones, this will depend on the bone location in which the disease occurs.

Some of the main topics to be dealt with during the semester in this subject are biological profile, skeletal fractures, bone infections, degenerative or metabolic diseases, lifestyles, among others.

I really like all the topics to be discussed, since each of them manages to surprise me with new developments that the human body can reach in life at the skeletal level. It also keeps me attentive to my own development and I wonder daily under what conditions my muscles are developing in conjunction with my bones.

A career-related website / An expert on your field

Since today we must talk about a site or an expert associated with our career, I have decided to talk about a professor at the faculty of social sciences of the University of Chile, who has been an important part of my academic training.

This is the teacher Sandra López Lázaro, a Spanish teacher who began giving me classes in the subject of Research Workshop in the second semester of 2018 and first of the current year in the subject of Taller de memoria.

She holds the title of Physical Anthropologist, from the Autonomous University of Madrid. In addition, he has a master's degree in physical anthropology: Evolución y Biodiversidad Humana and a doctorate in biomedicine. In addition, she collaborates in research associated mainly with dental and forensic anthropology.

One of the biggest reasons why I admire her is because of her unconditional academic performance, her dedication, companionship and unconditional support for her students. It provides an orientation to our career and guides us in the course of our training to obtain our professional degree in the most complete way possible.

A Photograph

Then, I present to you this somewhat old photograph of one of my older sisters, Constanza on the left with a red shirt and me on the right with a pink shirt.

It was taken a sunny day many years ago by my mother in the house of my grandmother Carmen, I think it must have been in 2000 or 2001 when I was four or five years old, but honestly I am not very sure.

It shows the natural happiness that we can achieve when we are children and this is one of the reasons why I like it a lot.

In addition there are other reasons why I am fascinated by this photo, as the fact that it is a spontaneous photograph, I think it gives something special to a childhood memory. It also makes it special because of the connection I have with my sister, because our age difference is only one and a half years and we have always been there for each other despite any situation.

Movies and series

For today we will talk about a television series of the year 2008, which caught my attention and is the reason why I decided to talk about it.

I'm talking about breaking bad, an american TV series a little old but I would definitely recommend to those who have not seen it yet.

This series is produced by Vince Gilligan and the main plot includes a chemistry teacher who, due to economic and health needs, begins to cook methamphetamine. It is composed of 5 seasons and has 62 chapters. The protagonists of the chapters are Bryan Cranston as Walter White and Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman.

Has won many awards and has a high popularity, not for this, I consider that this is a series worth recommending because it has an excellent production, a dedication is identified in its scenes and the way in which the episodes take place is explained in an unequaled way. In other words, there are no details that are overlooked.

I would not like to go into detail about the series because it is not the idea to tell it before you see it. I hope that those who have seen it have enjoyed it and those who have not yet do not hesitate to start seeing it.

My favourite piece of technology

I want you to know my favorite technological device: my cell phone.

I remember that I received my first cell phone about 10 years ago, when they were not yet tactile and had an infinite battery. While they served almost only to call and send text messages have evolved in an incredibly fast from its functionality in which they began to implement camera, internet and other good apps to their way of transferring files and information from the infrared to the bluetooth

At present we can find cell phones with many new features such as the new battery transfer or really amazing cameras.

Although many say that it has replaced other technological devices in a negative way, I believe that it has made life easier, since it allows us to communicate quickly and usefully in addition to providing comfort and information about the hole world.

I think the only bad thing I could say about the new cell phones is how delicate they are and the high prices they reach.

Why did I choose my career?

Today I want to tell you how it was that I ended up studying my career, the way I fell in love with its contents and decided to train as a professional in the area.

When I was a girl I thought about studying many university degrees or entering a uniformed institution, however I could not agree with any of them.

As I grew up I learned about the different areas of medicine, because I love anthology and I found many interesting university careers that caught my attention such as nursing, kinesiology or the same medicine, however I felt that they were not completely complete because they only complement a part of my interest.

When I was in third grade I found a university career that contained elements oriented to society and also included associated biology. With this I mean physical anthropology, a career that unites biology and society in a myriad of aspects. I fell in love with this because it was what I was looking for.

Since 2015 I am studying this career and has managed to surprise me in all its aspects. Mainly I like the paleopathology and the way in which it looks for answers to questions of different societies.

I am really happy to have chosen this career because it complements all my interests and I hope to continue increasing knowledge as I learn from the area and grow as a person.

My autobiography

Hi again, i'm back to tell you the story of my life.

I was born on October15, 1996 in Talca, during the morning, the four girl of six daughters. I grew up in Curepto, a place near Talca. There I went to school until fourth grade, after that we moved to Talca, where I studied from fifth grade until I graduated at the Marta Donoso Espejo High School.

During that two last year at high school I decided to study Physical Anthropology because it was a college career that includes so many social and biological elements.

In 2015 I started studying Physical Anthropology at the University of Chile and I started living in Santiago for school reasons and I travel to my home in Talca only on weekends and holidays.

Thanks to the university I have learned to be more independent and responsible for myself, I even learned to cook, sort my schedules and organize my activities.

Actually I am in my fifth year of university, I have met amazing people in college, I have started good friendships and I am grateful for the teachers that have guided me during my academic training.
I hope soon to be licensed and continue with further studies to obtain ever greater knowledge of my area.

Presentation of myself

Hello everybody, I introduce myself, I am María Paz Molina Aguilera, I´m 22 years old and this is the first time I write in a blog, so I hope to do this as well as possible.

I'm student of Physical Anthropology at the University of Chile and this is my 5th year here. I hope to be licensed before the end of the year.

Originally I'm from Talca, a quiet city. I have 5 sisters and 6 nephews. Yes, we are a big big family. There I live with my mom, we have two Great Danes and some cats. 

One of the things that I love are bones and anatomy, that's the reason why I study physical anthropology. However, there are other things that I love to do too, like traveling, listen to music, to do sports, swim and make trekking.

Well, I already talked a little about myself, so I hope to see you soon.
